Age-related Macular Degeneration treatment at London Medical
1606 intravitreous injections have now been logged at London Medical, making it one of the largest series from a London eye clinic for the treatment of Age-related Macular Degeneration (ARMD). Since launching the potentially sight-saving procedure in March 2006, London Medical’s first-class team now encompasses ten experienced retinal surgeons in addition to the specially trained nursing team and dedicated facilities.
Due to the cost advantage and efficiancy of AvastinTM (inclusive cost £770 per injection), 86.3% of all the injections have been done with this anti VEGF drug, in comparison with LucentisTM (12.5%) and MacugenTM (1.2%). Only 2 cases of infection resulted (0.12%) which is in line with expectations for this procedure.
