Prof Victor Chong

Prof Victor Chong is Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Honorary Senior Lecturer and Head of Laser and Retinal Research Unit in King’s College Hospital, London.  He is also the Head of the Regional Photodynamic therapy unit for South East London and West Kent. Mr. Chong is a member of the prestigious Macular Society.  He had written several ophthalmic textbooks, including “Medical Retina”, “Clinical Ocular Physiology”, Retinal Chapters in “Atlas of Clinical Ophthalmology”, Laser Chapter in “General Ophthalmology” and over 50 other publications.



Melanie Corbett

Melanie Corbett undertook her training in Oxford and then in London, at St. Thomas’ Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital.  She undertook research for a higher degree on wound healing in the cornea after refractive surgery, and wrote a book about corneal shape and its measurement.  She now specializes in diseases of the cornea and ocular surface (including corneal transplantation), cataract, and surgery of the anterior segment (front of the eye).  Miss Corbett is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Western Eye Hospital.

Jonathan Dowler

Dr. Jonathan Dowler is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Divisional Clinical Director, and Governor at the Moorfields Eye Hospital.
He qualified in 1983 at St Thomas' Hospital. His specialist areas are diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, medical retinal disease and cataract surgery. His doctoral thesis (2000) was on cataract surgery in diabetes, while his publications center on diabetic retinopathy and medical retinal disease. He is a member of the Macular Society and of Diabetes UK.



Zdenek Gregor

Mr Zdenek Gregor is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital with responsibility in both medical retina and vitreoretinal services.  He has an international reputation in both and is President of the European Society of Ophthalmology.  He was Director of the Medical Retinal Service at Moorfields for over 20 years (1982-2003).



Peter Hamilton

Mr. Hamilton has a special interest within Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration and Medical Retinal Conditions plus Photodynamic Therapy and Fluorescein Angiography.  Mr. Hamilton is also a Research Fellow at St Thomas’s Hospital and Honorary Consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital. With internationally-published research on many aspects of medicine, he is particularly recognised for laser treatment in the management of diabetic eye complications and glaucoma.



Philip Hykin

Mr. Philip Hykin has a special interest within Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, Cataract and Retinal Diseases plus Photodynamic Therapy.  Mr. Hykin holds an NHS post at Moorfields Eye Hospital.  With internationally-published research on many aspects of medicine, he is particularly recognised for laser treatment in the management of diabetic eye complications and glaucoma.



Sheng Lim

Sheng Lim is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at St Thomas' Hospital in London. He undertook his general ophthalmology and glaucoma training at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Western Eye Hospital and had further training in Glaucoma at the Mayo Clinic in the USA. He has a doctorate degree from his research into glaucoma surgery from the University of London and now specialises in glaucoma and cataract surgery.




Brian Little

Mr Brian Little qualified at Cambridge University and is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he completed his specialist training in 1993. He is a general ophthalmologist but has developed a particular interest in cataract surgery and complex cataract surgery. He is Training Director of the Cataract Service at Moorfields. He has performed phacoemulsification for 20 years and now also offers multifocal lens implantation for those who would like to be less dependent on their reading glasses. Mr Little has run cataract surgery training courses in the UK, Europe and the USA for many years and recently was appointed as the sole international member of the Cataract Clinical Committee of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons. In recognition of his contribution to the development of cataract surgery, he was elected to the prestigious International Intraocular Implant Club. Mr Little features regularly as an invited speaker at international meetings and is also a Principal UK Expert on the International Working Group that develops standards for ophthalmic surgical equipment. Clinical research has been an important part of his working life and he has published more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to numerous major textbooks. He is Series Editor of the award-winning Video Atlas of Eye Surgery, which is now used by more than half of the trainee ophthalmologists in the USA as part of their training (www.eyemovies.co.uk). Mr Little works for the international eye charity ORBIS and is an active member of its Volunteer Faculty training eye surgeons in developing countries. He is also one of ORBIS’s UK ambassadors, together with Sir Richard Branson, and promotes ORBIS in the UK and Europe.
